Funny Sounds You're Making!

Today (2/27), I noticed that you're starting to make funny sounds. Well, I know it's your way of communicating, but it really is kind of funny. When you want something and don't get it, you kind of make this funny face and almost growl/grunt. You did this several times tonight when I was sitting at the dinner table. You wanted me to pick you up, and you crawled up to me, stood up and just made this pouty face and grunted at me. I couldn't help but laugh (and of course picked you up!).

In Your Own Time

I keep focusing on what other kids are doing, and wondering why you're not walking yet. You're only 11 months old, but you have been sooooo advanced thus far. I thought that you would be walking by now, but I think that in your own due time you'll do it. Many kids, actually most don't walk by now. It's okay...we love you just the same and actually I get to keep you young a little longer.

When you're ready, I'll be there to catch you when you run to me!

3 steps!!

Tonight you took 3 steps towards me! You're definitely making progress. It's so exciting, but sad at the time.

Tomorrow is going to be really exciting. Daddy's store is have a Dr. Seuss storybook time. Once you go night night daddy and I have to make freebie gift bags. Hopefully we can keep one for you.

Okay...time for night night!

Ice Cream!

You got to spend the whole day with daddy today!!! He said that you took a couple of small steps for him, too!! I'm so glad that he got to see you take some of your first steps!!

Daddy had to go to school tonight, so you got to play with me tonight! You played a lot with your walker, but did not do a whole lot of steps for me. :( I guess you'll walk when you're ready. :)

I had a sugar craving, so I had some of my low-carb ice cream! YUMMM! It was delish!! I gave you teeny tiny shavings of it, and you LOVED it! Though you don't know the words, I could definitely tell that you were frustrated if I didn't give you more in a specific time frame. You would almost stomp and growl at me! Ha! It was so funny. Daddy doesn't think I should be giving you ice cream, but it will be our little secret! :) Maybe I'll get you some of your own ice cream, since this is low-carb, and has artificial sweeteners.

Well, it's POURING outside, and you're in your crib - HOPEFULLY asleep!! You seem to sleep right through storms, so hopefully this one isn't any different!

Don't Worry...Grandma Will Be Right Back!!

Tonight we had to take Grandma to the airport because she had to go home to see Grandpa. She had so much fun with you, and I think you had a ton of fun with her. Right before we left for the airport, we were trying to get you to take a step unassisted. It was so funny. You thought it was a good because I would stand you up, and then you would just fall forward - of course, I caught you! But again, everytime I stood you back up, you immediately fell forward and giggled. Grandma made a comment that you would probably do it after she left...and guess what!?!?!?!? You kind of did!!! You were leaning on the ottoman, and then took one hand off so you were standing. You were kind of in between the ottoman and the couch, and took the teeniest step, but a step it was, without holding anything!!!! You took these mini steps a couple more times tonight...maybe you WILL be walking by your 1st birthday (which is in 17 days!!!!)

You get to stay home with daddy tomorrow! Maybe he'll practice with you!!!

Cupcake Tasting!!

On Saturday, we went to a cupcake tasting at Heavenly Frosted Cupcakes. I'm thinking about having some custom made cupcakes for your 1st birthday party which is in just about 3 weeks!
Because I'm on this really horrible diet, I couldn't taste the cupcakes, but you and Grandma certainly did!!

We didn't do a whole lot more after the tasting because you still weren't feeling better. You still have a pretty bad cough, and your nose won't stop running.

Grandma's here and you're still sick! :(

Grandma (mommy's mommy) arrived on Wednesday night, as she has come to play with you for a whole week!!!! You're pretty sick, though. You have a terrible cough, and runny nose since Valentine's Day (2/14/11). However; you're still in good spirits.

Yesterday (2/17), I called Dr. Warner because a lot of the girls I work with, their children have the flu. I wanted to be sure that you didn't have anything more than a cold because your cough is the worst I've heard, and you're just not yourself. I was able to get an appt, so I picked you and Grandma up yesterday around 10:30am and we saw Dr. Warner. She said that everything looks good, and that you just have a bad cold. I think she called it the Rhinovirus cold or something like that. No antibiotics needed. You did have a low-grade fever of 99 degrees, but she said to give you Tylenol and possibly use a humidifier. The night before I actually had daddy bring home a cool-moisture humidifier. At the end of the appointment, I had her weigh and measure you. You weighed in at 21 lbs 3.8oz and measured about the same as last time...little over 29in.

We tried the humidifier last night, so hopefully that helped break some of the mucus up, and allowed you to breath a little easier. You're still sleeping, but making noises here and there.

You know, as much as I hate seeing you sick, I'm really loving the extra cuddle time. You are crawling up to me much more, and actually have started saying "ma ma" a lot more. I can't wait until you know what it means and actually refer to me as "ma ma."

Happy 1st Valentine's Day!!

Today is your 1st Valentine's Day!! I dressed you in a really cute Valentine's Day t-shirt! I have a Valentine's Day present for you at home - a GIGANTIC pink stuff animal with arms so you can hug it, and it can hug you! Grandma Betsy & Grandpa Marc sent you a pink stuffed dog, and 2 cute outfits. You were rolling around on the floor last night with the pink dog.
Grandma Andi & Grandpa Howard sent you a big box of stuff, which should be at the house today!

I still feel terrible about your poor little face. It looks a little bit better, more like a thick red scratch. :( I'll pick up safety locks for the cabinets/drawers tonight! Can't have my precious little girl getting into anything!

When I picked you up from Michelle's and got you home, you started coughing immediately.
It sounds like you have a lot of phlegm in your throat, and you keep coughing, but it isn't helping. You also had a fever of 100 degrees, which is SO not like you. You were really uncomfortable tonight, but ultimately fell asleep on your heart pillow! :) Good thing you're home with daddy tomorrow.

11 Months Old!!!

You turned 11 months old yesterday (2/12/11)!! Again, I can't believe it! Only 1 more month until you're a whole year old...and you're fabulous birthday party!!!! We celebrated your 11th month in this world by going to your friend, Ada's 2nd birthday party! Ada's mommy, Jessie, had made tutus for all of the girls, and of course your's was pink and brown! You were wearing pink and brown any way, so it was PERFECT!!!!


Still waiting for you to take that step by yourself...I guess I should be thanking the baby gods that you're not walking yet, but still...everytime we play, I keep hoping that that will be the moment.

You're also starting to make more sounds, but still no "ma ma!" I think you're doing it on purpose because a few months ago, I did hear you say "ma ma," but since that time, you haven't said it. You say "da da" all of the time, but recently started to say "ya ya" and "na na." It's so cute!

Tomorrow is your very 1st Valentine's Day! Of course I have an outfit for you to wear! Hopefully you don't get too much food on it! :) Ha ha!

You're "hopefully" taking a nap right now! You've been very good today. Ate your entire pouch of cinnamon apple oatmeal, took a morning nap, then ate veggies for lunch, and hopefully are taking an afternoon nap! :) So far so good! :)

Well, you did take a nap, but woke up REALLY grouchy! :( Poor thing. Seems like recently, around 6:00pm or so, you are REALLY fussy. Not sure what that's about, but a dose of Tylenol did the trick! :) You calmed down, took a bottle, and laid on the floor with daddy. It was so cute. All was well, and I thought we were free of fuss when I had this brilliant (NOT) idea. Recently you started opening drawers and cabinets. Because you had not done this before, I had not yet bought the baby proofing locks, so I took a rubberband and put it on the cabinet handles under the sink. I went to pick you up, but you must have been holding the rubberband and it snapped in your face!!!!
It was so scary. You immediately had swelling from your right temple to underneath your eye. No blood, but it did break the skin in 2 places. :( It's very red. I tried to ice it, but that made you cry even more. :( I feel like a terrible mother. On the list for tomorrow??? GETTING BABY PROOFING LOCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rare Form!!!

Oooh this weekend, you have been in rare form! I can't tell if you don't feel well, or if it's this age, or maybe a mixture of the two, but whooosh, you have really tested us this weekend!!!! A couple weeks ago you started this "I refuse to sit in my carseat the right way" kind of thing, and this weekend you absolutely refused to sit correctly. I can't wait until you're 1 when we can turn you forward. I really think that you just want to see the world, but can't right now because you're still rear-facing. So, getting you in the carseat was quite a challenge this weekend. Today, which is Super Bowl Sunday, has been the most difficult. You did the whole refuse to sit in the carseat thing, and then you refused to sit in the stroller.
I could tell that you were really sleepy because you would get really fussy, and start hitting yourself near your ears. You weren't pulling at your ears, which can be a sign of an ear infection, but maybe your ears are hurting you. It's so difficult right now because we still don't know what's wrong, but boy you were not your normal, chipper self today.

All in all, we really can't complain. In all of my entries, this is probably one of the only entries in which I remotely complain. Frustrating right now, I know it's only a phase...(hopefully a quick one!)

So Close to Walking

I had been talking about you walking all week, and wondering when it might happen. You are so close. I was sitting with you in your play area, and I could see that you SO wanted to take a step. You almost did, but fell forward luckily onto me and some pillows. I kept standing you up, hoping you'd just take that one step, but not yet. It's okay, you'll walk in your own time. :) I'm with you staying a baby forever!
